On October 3, 2023, the FAR Council released two proposed rules for federal contractor cybersecurity requirements that relate to cyber threat and incident reporting and information sharing (case 2021-017) and standardizing cybersecurity requirements for unclassified federal information systems (case 2021-019). Both proposed rules not only provide new requirements for federal contractors to follow but also provide new definitions and contract provisions for information and contract technology and federal information systems contracts. Chris advises businesses and nonprofits on business formation, corporate governance and commercial transactions. He drafts and negotiates purchase and sale agreements for assets, stocks and real estate, as well as documents for mergers and acquisitions of all sizes. Chris also helps financial institutions including banks and other lenders with all aspects of the commercial lending process.
Additionally, Chris counsels companies in data privacy and cybersecurity matters. He routinely helps clients manage privacy and security measures, and works with them to stay compliant on a federal and state level.
Chris offers clients an in-house perspective on legal issues, as he was a legal consultant for a California-based biopharmaceutical startup. His work included drafting and negotiating clinical trial agreements, master service agreements, CCPA and GDPR data processing addendums, and joint controller agreements with company clients, service providers, clinical sites, CMOs and CROs. Chris was responsible for writing and implementing policies addressing data privacy, storage and processing.
